An intensive, one-to-one examination of how you operate — and what you want to do with your life.
GAUNTLET is ARK's most intensive private advisory engagement. It is for people who want more than reassurance, generic advice, or another framework imposed from the outside.
The work begins with an examination of the whole picture: your ambitions, decisions, relationships, habits, assumptions, work, and the circumstances shaping your life.
“The most intelligent men, like the strongest, find their happiness where others would find their destruction: in the labyrinth, in being hard with themselves and others, in effort; their delight is in self-mastery; in them asceticism becomes second nature, a necessity, an instinct. They regard a difficult task as a privilege; it is to them a recreation to play with the burdens that would crush all others. They are the most venerable kind of man: that does not preclude their being the most cheerful and the kindliest.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
The whole picture. Not just the presenting problem.
People rarely operate in neat categories.
The same patterns that shape a commercial decision may appear in a personal relationship. Ambition may be constrained by an unexamined assumption. A problem that appears situational may have deeper causes—or a straightforward solution that has been obscured by complexity.
GAUNTLET makes room to examine the connections.
The inquiry is broad by design. What matters is not whether a subject fits within a conventional professional category, but whether it is relevant to the person, the circumstances, and the work to be done.
Mask off. Gloves off.
The work is candid, demanding, and individualized.
That means questioning assumptions, examining contradictions, distinguishing facts from preferred narratives, and confronting matters that may be uncomfortable to acknowledge.
It does not mean confrontation for its own sake. Candour is useful when it produces a clearer understanding or a better decision — not merely a dramatic moment.
There is no prescribed personality to adopt and no universal model of a successful life. The objective is to see the situation more clearly, determine what matters, and decide what to do about it.
HOW IT WORKS
01 — Initial intensive
The work begins with a substantial private session of at least five hours. We examine your circumstances, establish the questions that matter, and identify the areas requiring deeper attention.
02 — Focused priorities
The wider picture informs the next stage: the decisions, patterns, relationships, and ambitions that warrant the greatest attention.
03 — Intensive work
Where appropriate, the engagement may extend into several days of concentrated, potentially off-grid work designed around the individual and the scope of the inquiry.
04 — Continued counsel
The work may continue through private sessions, check-ins, and ongoing advisory over a longer period. The scope and access arrangements are agreed individually.
WHO IT IS FOR
GAUNTLET is intended for ambitious, self-aware people who are prepared to examine themselves seriously and engage candidly with difficult questions.
You may be navigating a consequential decision, approaching a new level of responsibility, reassessing how you operate, or seeking a thought partner capable of engaging with the full complexity of your circumstances.
While it is not necessary to arrive with a perfectly formulated problem, you do need a genuine willingness to look carefully at what is there.
A BESPOKE ENGAGEMENT
GAUNTLET is a rejection of a standardized programme. The scope, format, duration, and possibility of continued advisory are determined in conversation.
This is a private advisory service, not clinical or therapeutic care. The nature and boundaries of the engagement are discussed before work begins.
GAUNTLET engagements are considered individually. Pricing is discussed in the initial conversation.
BEGIN WITH A CONVERSATION
If you are considering GAUNTLET, write directly to Adeline.
Introduce yourself, describe what has brought you to the work, and explain what you hope to examine or accomplish. A polished proposal is unnecessary; a considered introduction is enough. Put "Gauntlet" in the subject line.
If there is a potential fit, the next step is a private conversation about the work, its scope, and whether to proceed.
ARK provides advisory services on human dynamics, relationships, and judgement. ARK does not provide legal, medical, psychological, or therapeutic services. Clients requiring those services should consult appropriately licensed professionals.
